Katie invites you into her studio to learn how to hand build small pottery plates out of clay, emboss with flowers and foliage as well as glaze with colours. Your dishes will also get a coat of clear glossy glaze and be fired twice in the kiln. Clay is an incredible medium for impressions, the technique we will be using in this class creates beautiful floral designs onto clay.

During this workshop you will create 3-5 small plates approx 10cm-15cm diameter. These plates will be perfect for jewellery dishes, soap dishs or to use for condiments on a platter.

Katie will have a range of flowers and leaves for you to use but you can also bring along some of your own flowers and foliage from your garden, to make your dishes even more special.

The last part of the workshop is to use colourful ceramic glazes and paint these into the impressions of the flowers.

The dishes you make in this workshop will be ready to collect in 4-6 weeks time.

This workshop is suitable for ages 12+

When? Saturday February 1st, 10am-12.30pm

Where? Katie's pottery studio, located inside the Kaiapoi Mill, 35 Ranfurly Street, Kaiapoi.

What to bring? An apron if you have one and small leaves and flowers from home (or the side of the road).

Please note that because spaces are limited once you have booked there are no refunds, unless we can find someone else to take your spot or consider gifting your spot to a friend.

This workshop is designed for beginners and is set in a relaxed studio environment. Katie loves to encourage creativity and no two pieces made in her class are the same.

All of Katie's classes are handbuilding classes, which means they are not on the pottery wheel. Techniques used in these classes mean that you are able to make pottery of a higher standard without the need for practicing on a wheel

You will get an email closer to the date with more information.

Sometimes pottery cracks in the kiln, this rarely happens but unfortunately it is a part of making pottery, if this happens we are not able to refund you. The best part of the workshop is the workshop itself and learning a new skill.
