Creative pottery workshop - January 25th
Creative pottery workshop - January 25th
*New workshop*
Please note that to come to this workshop you must have already been to at least one of Katie's workshops in the past. You will be asked which workshop you came to and Katie will double check this through her bookings page on her website.
This is a free for all creative pottery session. If you have a pottery project that you would like to create, this is the workshop for you. Each person will be working independently on their own pottery project. Katie will be there to help and guide you if you need it.
Please come prepared with a project in mind and a plan on how you are going to make it. Because you have already been to at least one of Katie's workshops you will be aware of how much time it takes to make pottery. Please come with realistic expectations of what your skills are and what you are able to create in the 3 hour session.
You will each get 1.5kg of clay to use during the workshop, you will also be able to buy more clay if you need it.
Firing and glazing are an additional cost and this will depend of the number and size of the pieces that you make. Katie will work this out at the end of the workshop. You can can pay by cash or eftpos.
Anything that you want fired in the kiln you must complete in the 3 hour session. If you do not complete your project or use all your clay, you can take it home with you but you wont be able to fire it unless you come to another session later in the year.
What will you have access to?
- All of Katie's tools, knowledge and underglazes.
- 1.5kg of white stoneware clay
- Firing and glazing in the kiln (additional cost)
The pottery you make in this session will be ready to collect in 4-6 weeks time. Katie has been working on some fun new glazes and will have a few different options for you to choose from including colourful glazes as well as a couple of neutral toned glazes too. The glazes in the photos here are not necessarily the ones you will get to choose from as Katie likes to change up her glazes from time to time.
All of Katie's workshops are hand building classes, which means they are not on the pottery wheel. This means that you are able to make pottery of a higher standard without having to practice for weeks on the wheel first.
Please note you will not be able to use clay in piping bags during this session, this is a specialized skill and you will need to book into a cake making workshop for this option.
This workshop is suitable for ages 12+
When? Saturday January 25th, 10am-1pm
Where? Katie's pottery studio, located inside the Kaiapoi Mill, 35 Ranfurly Street, Kaiapoi.
What to bring? An apron if you have one and a plan for how you are going to make your creations.
Please note that because spaces are limited once you have booked there are no refunds, unless we can find someone else to take your spot. please consider gifting your spot to a friend if you can no longer make it.
You will get an email closer to the date with more information.
Sometimes pottery cracks in the kiln, this rarely happens but unfortunately it is a part of making pottery, if this happens we are not able to refund you.
