Tiny house making workshop - August 17th
Tiny house making workshop - August 17th
Katie invites you into her studio to learn how to make a tiny pottery house with windows and a chimney to sit over a tealight candle. Your house will be glazed with a glossy coat of clear glaze to show off the white of the clay, it will then be fired twice in the kiln for you to pick up 4-6 weeks later. A piece of art you get to keep forever.
Each person will design their tiny dream house using paper templates and then build their house using slabs of white stoneware clay. It's helpful if you have a think about the style of house you want to make before you get to the workshop, a simple design will always work well.
This workshop is designed for beginners and is set in a relaxed studio environment. Katie loves to encourage creativity and no two pieces made in her class are the same.
This workshop is suitable for ages 12+
When? Saturday August 17th, 10am-1.30pm
Where? Katie's pottery studio, located inside the Kaiapoi Mill, 35 Ranfurly Street, Kaiapoi.
What to bring? An apron if you have one.
Please note that because spaces are limited once you have booked there are no refunds, unless we can find someone else to take your spot or consider gifting your spot to a friend.
You will get an email closer to the date with more information.
Please note also that there is only one glazing option for this class, which is a coat of clear glossy glaze, your house will come out of the kiln white.
In the past this workshop has also included making a tray for your house, however, to bring the cost of the workshop down, this workshop will not include a tray. If you would like to make a tray for your house to sit on it will be an additional $15 cash which you will need to bring with you on the day.
Sometimes pottery cracks in the kiln, this rarely happens but unfortunately it is a part of making pottery, if this happens we are not able to refund you. The best part of the workshop is the workshop itself and learning a new skill.
